Here's Another Plus

November 07, 2008 00:11 AM  BY  STUART TAYLOR

Oh do you hear that? No? That’s right. Of the many benefits of floor warming mats, their quiet operation is one of my favorite things about them. Don’t get me wrong, being able to show off my slate floors without having to cover them up with rugs (to keep my feet warm), along with the energy I save are all right up there on the list of reasons that I love my floor warming mats.

However, I just love the peace and quiet they bring. No more noisy forced air systems, no more slamming doors with pressure increases as the forced air kicks in. Instead, I have peace and serenity all day long. There’s nothing like curling up with a book and not be startled half to death as the door slams behind you. If you’ve currently in a home with a forced air system, you know exactly what I’m referring to. If your home has a forced air heating system, you may think that there is no way to install radiant heating without tearing everything up at considerable expense. You’d be wrong.

Something that often surprises people is to learn that today’s systems can be easily retrofitted to fit almost every application. Furthermore, they are very inexpensive, and will save you a lot of money on heating and electricity bills. To find out how you can benefit from floor warming mats, contact the knowledgeable staff at SunTouch ®.

A New Level of Comfort

November 06, 2008 00:11 AM  BY  STUART TAYLOR

Perhaps you weren’t aware of this, but the use of a bathroom can be responsible for a significant amount of your utility bills year-round. Bathroom heating is one such energy consideration because you want the heat quickly, but for only a short period of time. Therefore traditional forced air heating systems for a bathroom can be very inefficient, and waste a lot of energy. However, SunTouch ® provides a solution to this in their radiant heating products. Radiant heat can make you feel comfortably warm without having to heat all the air in the bathroom.

SunTouch radiant heating provides a unique transfer of energy that naturally searches out colder objects to warm. Instead of rising like warm air, radiant heat starts by warming the coldest and closest objects from its source. This is why radiant heating systems are generally placed under floors. If you have ever strolled barefoot along the beach on a sunny day and felt the warm sand underneath your feet, or held a warm mug, then you have felt radiant heat. Objects absorb radiant heat until they are the same temperature as the heat source, after which the heat slowly escapes to other areas that are colder, such as the air, etc.

Not only will radiant heat save you in heating costs in areas like your bathrooms–which only need heat for short periods of time–but they also increase the comfort level of these rooms because they keep concentrate the heat in the areas that are generally the coolest, such as tile floors, etc. Imagine being able to step out of the shower onto a warm floor this winter. These are only a few of the benefits of a radiant heating system. To find out the other benefits of radiant heat, contact SunTouch today.

A Bold and Smart Choice

November 06, 2008 00:11 AM  BY  STUART TAYLOR

While they seem like they’re the latest innovation in home heating, the installation of floor warming mats is not new: heated floors have been installed under bathroom and kitchen tile in the United States for the past 10 years and the warming products continue to gain popularity. Many in the kitchen and bath industry expect radiant floor heating to continue to play a big role among homeowners who crave comfort features like heated hardwood or tile flooring.

The news keeps getting better, too. In addition to providing warmth, these new floor warming mats are energy efficient. Because it is under the carpet, tile, or floating wood and over the foam pad, it provides additional insulation from the cold sub-floor. Most homeowners love the look of tile, wood, marble floors, but dread stepping out of their soothing shower onto cold tile, especially during those frigid winter months. And many love tile or wood in their kitchens and living areas but worry about their little ones playing and running around on cold floors. That’s why so many are opting for floor warming mats to warm up their floors.

4 Reasons to Use SunTouch Floor Heating

November 05, 2008 00:11 AM  BY  STUART TAYLOR

Have you ever been in a upscale hotel or resort and been surprised to find that you step out of the shower onto a warm bathroom floor. What a pleasant surprise in contrast to the cold tile floors in most of our homes. For years heated floors have been a luxury that most could not afford, however SunTouch floor warming mats is changing that. SunTouch® floor warming mats are an affordable solution for providing heated floors in your home.

In addition to providing warmth, these new floor warming mats are energy efficient. Other benefits of electric floor heating systems include:

  • Silent operation. There’s no hum or whistle of a forced air system.
  • Energy savings. Evenly distributed heat from a radiant floor heating system can allow the thermostat to be set two to four degrees less than in a forced-air heating system. This can reduce energy costs by 10 to 40 percent.
  • A healthier home. Forced air systems can spread dust, pollen, and germs. Dust mites and molds love carpet but don’t like warmth. European research performed in 21 households shows a 50 percent to 80 percent reduction in domestic dust mite populations in the households with radiant floor heating, thereby improving the quality of life (particularly for allergy sufferers).
  • Even, quiet warmth. Even wood, tile, or uncovered concrete floors can benefit from a radiant system.

If you’ve always loved heated floors, but assumed you couldn’t afford them, you should checkout SunTouch floor warming mats.

A Better Choice in Home Heating

November 05, 2008 00:11 AM  BY  STUART TAYLOR

Did you know that the use of radiant heating via floor warming mats is one of the most comfortable and efficient ways to heat your home. As opposed to forced air heating, which heats the air, floor warming mats heat objects such as your floor. This increases the level of comfort in your home because the heat is distributed at the floor level where we are usually cold, and gets cooler toward our head area, which is usually too hot. Because radiant floor heating distributes the heat in this manner, the comfort in your home is increased. This means no more cold feet!

Another benefit of floor warming mats is that they can be used for nearly any floor area. Areas such as concrete, tile, hardwood, carpet, and even linoleum can all benefit from radiant floor heating. Even if you live in an existing home, radiant floor heating can be retrofitted, in most cases, to your existing floors.

Whether you’re building a new home, or remodeling your existing home, radiant floor heating is a great way to add comfort and efficiency to the rooms in your home that are traditionally hard to heat. Because floor warming mats deliver heat via objects (your floor) vs. through the air, less heat is lost, and your home is kept at a more constant temperature.  This form of heating is much more efficient, and will save you a bundle on your heating costs.  Who wouldn’t want to get more comfort for less money?
